The history of the Ayodhya temple dates back several centuries. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama was born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya. The exact location of his birthplace is believed to be where the Ram Janmabhoomi temple currently stands.

Over the centuries, the temple has undergone numerous renovations and reconstructions. In the 16th century, the Mughal emperor Babur ordered the temple’s destruction and built a mosque, known as the Babri Masjid, on the same site. This act sparked religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims, leading to several conflicts and legal disputes.

In 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished by Hindu activists, triggering widespread violence and riots across India. The subsequent legal battle over the ownership of the disputed land continued for several years. Finally, in 2019, the Supreme Court of India ruled in favor of the construction of a new Ram temple on the site.
